Realized and Total, and amounts that aren't final yet
Why two views of the same ledger, what pending, expected, and accrued mean, and what the dotted underline tells you.
Every transaction in FullFi has a status. Most are settled: the money has moved and the amount is final. Some aren't final yet. FullFi keeps both kinds in the same ledger and lets you choose which ones a total counts.
The two views
Pages with totals (the dashboard, transactions, budgets, reports, and net worth) have a View switch with two options.
- Realized counts settled transactions only. It answers "what has actually happened?"
- Total adds what is pending, expected, or accrued. It answers "where will this land?"
Nothing is stored twice. The switch only changes which transactions a total counts. Most pages open on Realized. The transaction list opens on Total, so you see everything that's coming.
What isn't final yet
- Pending. The money is on its way but hasn't settled: a card authorization, an expense waiting for approval, a transfer on a blockchain that isn't finalized yet, or a bridge transfer still in transit.
- Expected. Money you expect to move. A recurring rule adds its next occurrences as expected, and a bill read from a document is added as expected until it's paid. When the real transaction arrives, it replaces the expected one, so nothing counts twice.
- Accrued. Income you've earned but not collected: fees a Uniswap position has earned, or interest on a lending position. Collecting it counts it as settled income and releases the accrual, so it never counts twice.
A cancelled transaction counts in neither view.
The dotted underline
In Total, an amount that isn't final has a dotted underline and a status label next to it: Pending, Expected, or Accrued. Settled amounts have a plain number and a filled dot. A row such as "Coffee −4.75 CAD Pending" will settle later, and the figure may still change.
When a pending amount settles differently
Say a hotel authorizes −80.00 CAD and charges −92.16 CAD when you check out. When the settled line arrives (from a bank file, for example) and matches the pending one, FullFi marks the transaction settled. For a simple purchase (one account, one category), it also moves the amount to −92.16 CAD. It doesn't overwrite the old amount: it reverses the original entry and posts the new one, so both stay in the transaction's history. If the match was wrong, you can unlink it and the earlier amount and status come back.
Changing the status yourself
When you record something by hand, you can mark it Settled, Pending, or Expected, and you can change it later on the transaction's page. Accrued amounts come only from what FullFi reads, never from manual entry.
